From a private home to a beacon of hope for thousands.

Our Story

From a Family Home to a Community Haven.

Established on March 25, 1993, KIMSSA was born from the vision of diaspora returnees Mr. Hailu Gebre Hiwot, his late wife Mrs. Amarech Worku, and their three sons: Eskinder, Asfaw, and Yitbarek.

Inspired by the urgent needs of orphans and disadvantaged students, the family opened their private residential compound to provide a sanctuary. For the last 32 years, we have focused on holistic development—providing education, daily nutrition, and creative mentorship to ensure every child builds confidence and a bright future.

Our Vision for the Future

While our current operations are hosted within the founders' residential compound, our dreams for Ethiopia's youth are boundless. We are planning a major expansion to reach more lives.

Nationwide Expansion

We aim to replicate our successful community-based model across the country. By spreading our activities beyond the capital, we hope to touch the lives of underprivileged children in every corner of Ethiopia.

The KIMSSA Academy

Our ultimate goal is to construct a dedicated academy building. This facility will serve as a hub to train young underprivileged Ethiopians in high-demand sectors like Finance and Technology, ensuring they are ready for the modern workforce.

We hire dedicated tutors to help students from low-income families with homework in our small library, providing a quiet, supportive space for academic growth.

Daily Nutrition

To fuel their minds and bodies, every child receives fresh bread and hot tea before heading into the library. We believe no child should have to study on an empty stomach.

Talent & Confidence

Sunday Stage Performances

Every Sunday, students present their talents in our hall. Founders and volunteers provide feedback as mentors, helping to unleash potential and boost self-confidence.
